India has won the most votes in the elections held for the important non-governmental organization in the United Nations. In the five separate elections held for other subsidiary bodies (India), India was also elected with consensus. The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) had held elections for some subsidiary body on Monday.

ECOSOC works for three dimensions of sustainable development (economic, social and environmental). India topped the election of Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations. In a round of secret ballot, the council will be in the category of Asia-Pacific states for the Bahrain, China, India and Pakistan and Brazil, Cuba, Mexico and Nicaragua in the category of Latin American and Caribbean states starting from January 1, 2019. to chose.

India got 46 votes. After that, Pakistan got 43 votes, Bahrain 40 and China got 39 votes while Iran lost the election with 27 votes. The council chose 11 other nations for a four-year term with consensus. For the Commission on Population and Development, India was also elected with consensus for the tenure beginning on 16th April, 2018.

For the Commission for Social Development, the Council selected India and Kuwait (Asia-Pacific State) with consensus India is also among the 17 members elected by the consensus for the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. His tenure will be three years and it will start from January 2019.
Other members of the commission are Algeria, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Switzerland, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Thailand, Belarus, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Austria, France, Turkey and America. India has included the 14 countries that the Council has selected for the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Program, United Nations Population Fund, United Nations Office for Project Services. The Council elected 16 members, including India, for a three-year term with consensus, for the Executive Board of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equity and Empowerment of Women.
